Neuroaffirming Online Adult Autism and ADHD Assessments

You don't need to be fixed. You need to be understood.

You've probably researched autism and ADHD extensively before landing here.

You may have scored highly on every self-assessment you've found online, and still talked yourself out of pursuing a formal diagnostic assessment. Because you've 'managed'. Because surely someone would have noticed by now?!

Adult women are among the most consistently overlooked in autism and ADHD assessments. Not because the signs weren't there, but because competence is mistaken for the absence of difficulty. The strategies you've built to cope are impressive. They are also exhausting,.

Welcome to your safe space

I'm a warm and affirming auDHDer Clinical Psychologist, and mum of 2 boysI  I am a senior psychologist with over 24 years of experience. I have a Master of Clinical Psychology, and a Master of Organisational Psychology. I'm also a Board Approved Supervisor and EMDR Accredited Practitioner.

I have hEDS, POTS, MCAS and Co, which means I understand complex chronic illness, misdiagnosis, and medical trauma not just professionally, but personally. Many of the adults I assess carry a similar picture, and I hold that with genuine knowledge.

My special interest is in adult autism and ADHD assessments, particularly late-identified, high-masking, intellectually gifted folk who have spent years being missed.

Stimming is welcome. Unmasking is celebrated. CBT is not on the menu. Affirming care is not a buzzword for me, it is the foundation.

I am very aware of the harm that psychologists have caused neurokin over the years. I want to show you it can be different. ðŸ˜»â€‹

Neuroaffirming, respectful, inclusive care

I tailor comprehensive assessments to the unique needs of each individual using the most current and neuroaffirming assessment tools available.

I take every previous and suspected ‘diagnosis’ seriously and investigate rather than dismiss. Part of every assessment is understanding your full history. Differential diagnosis is a core part of what I do.

If questionnaires feel overwhelming, just show up on the day and we'll talk. Voice memos are fine. Existing notes are fine. You set the pace.

Sessions are 100% via Zoom, anywhere in Australia. No referral required.

As an endorsed clinical psychologist, my reports carry significant weight with the NDIS and are regularly accepted for NDIS access requests. Many clients submit their standard diagnostic report alongside their own impact statement without needing anything additional.

FAQs

What is the cost of a combined adult autism and ADHD assessment?
  • The cost is $3,100 ($2664.25 with a MHCP).

Can I get a Medicare rebate for an assessment? â€‹
  • If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan, I can give you three rebates (ie- $145.25 back x 3), given my therapeutic approach to 'assessments'

  • Medicare rebates are available for individuals under 25 years when referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist- you can get back around $400'

What do I get?
  • 99% of the time, we're able to provide you with an outcome on autism on the day. Note that without childhood data for ADHD, I can not formalise this diagnosis for you- the report would say 'strongly suggestive of ADHD'

  • The time with me allows you to ask plenty of questions as well/look at unmasking, autistic burnout, PDA, 2e, etc

  • You get a detailed report in 4 weeks (can occasionally take up to 6 weeks due to school holidays, emergencies, etc).

  • Reports are comprehensive (@ 50 pages) and include your background, results, strengths, recommendations/ next steps.

  • In around 1% of cases, the time booked is not enough, and we need to book more time, at an additional charge to you (though I almost never charge this lol!)

But I want NDIS funding too!

  • Many clients use my standard diagnostic report to apply for the NDIS.

  • A few clients choose to also have a second report called an 'NDIS Access Report' that lists your functional impacts, list of what you would like funded and why, how it is diagnosed, treated and stabilised, etc. You shouldn't waste your money- check with your LAC first please. Usually just my standard report is fine, especially given I'm an endorsed Clinical Psychologist.

Do I need a referral?
  • You do not need a doctor's referral for an assessment.

Can you prescribe medication?

  • No- only a psychiatrist can.

Why choose Neurokin Psychology for an autism assessment?
  • I dedicate numerous hours in each step, including intake, assessment, information gathering, result interpretation, and report writing. My reports are very comprehensive and highly regarded.

  • My approach is grounded in professional expertise, ensuring that your assessment is conducted with the utmost care, respect, and accuracy.

  • I am unwavering in my commitment to delivering assessments aligned with the highest international standards.

  • I craft comprehensive reports presented in simple language, and provide recommendations for improvements in your life. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Should I see a psychiatrist instead for an ADHD assessment?

  • If you suspect that you have ADHD, it is best to see a psychiatrist if you would like to trial stimulant medication

  • I don't offer standalone ADHD assessments sorry- I feel this is unprofessional- many psychiatrists will want to re-do the assessment if you are wanting stimulants prescribed. .

  • If you suspect that you're an auDHDer and intellectually gifted, and/or struggling to get an ADHD diagnosis from a psychiatrist, then a combined Autism and ADHD assessmentwould be helpful with me.
